Bamboo Creek - China Bistro Menu

We went here on "date night" in Feb (sorry just getting onto yelp) and the deco was impressive. Nicest of any chinese restaurant in Palm Coast. The place seems to do a good take-out-business too so we said 'lets go!'. The waiter was knowledgable and we started each with a soup. We were both very pleased with the Hot Sour soup and I could easily imagine buying a quart of this to take home for a quick dinner. The menu was enticing and many entres sounded fresh and tasty. I chose a stirfry with pork and my husband chose a pineapple beef dish. The tea was complementary, but arrived with tea bag dangling off the side (not a big issue but doesn't match the fancy decor). Then, both of our meals arrived before we had finished our soup which made us feel a bit rushed- what do we eat before it gets cold? The meals arrived presented beautifully- bright red pepper crisscrossed across mine and brilliant colors on my husband's plate as well. We smiled at each other and thought 'Finally, a nice place in Palm Coast!" The meal looked beautiful-- all glistening in the lower light levels-- however, we soon realized that was not from the 'freshness' as initially thought but from the quantity of oil used. How sad. My delicious plate of tasty looking vegetables was unedible. I litterally tipped the plate and tried to spoon off the oil into my empty soup cup filling it nearly half-way to salvage the meal. The napkins were cloth so I didn't try to "blot" my dish. Perhaps the lid on the oil bottle fell off? My husband's dish was the same way, though his meat and pineapple soaked more up. Bummer! We asked the waiter if this quantity of oil was "normal" and he said "yes" and politely offered us more rice. Perhaps he thought that would absorb the oil??? We made a face and said that was too bad they used such copious amounts of oil. He said "ok". Perhaps it was a language barrier or something but he never asked if we wanted them to fix it and the manager never came over, though we were only 1 of 3 tables that night. Its not our style to raise a big fuss and complain so we ate about half our meal (we aren't used to fried and greasy food) and didn't opt for take-home boxes. The search for really good ethnic food in a 30 mile radius of Palm Coast continues... 5/11/11 UPDATE: We found an amazing local ethnic food place- check out Thai Korner up by Windixi near the WalMart.

The beef with snow peas is my all time favorite. They also have really high quality oolong tea. Great Chinese for a great price!!!

I ordered the chicken and cashew nuts and it was terrible. The chicken was cold and they dumped cashew nuts all over the plate...I asked to exchange for another meal and the waitress was not happy and even called over the manger who was very unpleasant. They removed my meal and left the rice. When they brought my new order, they came back and removed the rice without asking...very rude and unprofessional. We use to eat here all the time but the food and service has really gone down hill....

New to the area and trying to find my go to Chinese, this will never be it. I ordered dim sum (which looked like it had been sitting around all day) and moo shi "chicken" they were both horrible. I'm not even convinced it was chicken in the moo shi. So it looks like I have to keep looking....

We ordered takeout. The service was fast and the employees were nice. The food, however, wasn't. The egg rolls were good but the shimp fried rice was one of the worst I've tasted. The rice and veggies weren't cooked thoroughly, and the dish was overall bland. Side note: and this is picky of me, but feel the need to share. The order was ready to go when I arrived, tied so I couldn't see inside. I like to use a lot of soy sauce and usually (at other restaurants) only get one or two packets in my bag. To avoid being disappointed when I get home, I always ask for a few extra packets, assuming there won't be enough. When I asked the cashier for a few extra packets, she pointed to a counter next to the to go area, where the packaged condiments were. I grabbed a few packets, tossed them in my purse, and left. When I got home, I opened the bag and found they had not included any condiments. I'm glad I grabbed some or I wouldn't have had any. Again, not super important, but definitely unusual for a takeout order. I'm new to the area and am looking for a go-to Chinese takeout place and this definitely is not it.

Unapologetically rude service and scary bad meat/poultry. All the beef slices were flavorless flanks of pure fat and the chicken was hard and chewy. The hot and sour was flavorful but contained a lot of unrecognizable ingredients. The steamed dumplings were actually excellent - it was a happy fluke and the only upswing of the meal. My parents said this was the best Chinese in Palm Coast... I feel sorry for the people of PC if that's true!

I have eaten in once and take out twice , both times the food was very good. Staff on take out does not mess around, they have your order ready to go and get you in and out as fast as they can, I see nothing wrong with that, heck I'm hungry!! Dine in was nice sort of funky Asian music in the back ground but not so loud you couldn't talk. Wait staff was polite and helpful, on a whole it was a nice place to go.

Bad service, so so food. I rather go to Oriental Garden....the food is ten times better and they don't take a customer for granted. I'm done giving this place chances. I've tried them over ten times, due to location convenience over the past few years. They just don't have good food and the service is lousy. Show some respect and patrons will come back Bamboo Creek

The food is great but the service needs improvement. We routinely eat there for lunch and dinner. The other day, we went for lunch there. Because it was a holiday when a lot of people were going out, they said they were not serving lunch. Since they were still open, to us this was a ploy not show their regular lunch menu, which is much cheaper and use their more expensive dinner menu all day instead. Another time, we found their discount coupon in a local magazine. It turned out that we could not use it to reduce our dinner costs. Because, in a very small print, it said "cash only". Imagine if you are a group of 6 or 10 people, to get the discount you have to walk around with a ton of cash in your pocket. You can't use your debit or credit card.

This place is so unprofessional they subscribe to a coupon online service and once you try and use the coupon they say they will not accept the coupon unless you print it out...doubletake is the online coupon site...they have lost a customer for life and I will make sure all my friends and family know how crooked they are Very unsatisfied customer

We have been to Bamboo Creek numerous times over the past three years. We have never been disappointed. The food is always great, some of the best Chinese food we have eaten outside NYC. Today we started with our favorite steamed dumplings. For our entrees, we had the crispy duck and the eggplant special. Everything was wonderful, we will be back soon.

Impressively terrible. The spring rolls had overpowering ginger, and, most importantly, the Peking Duck came with flour tortillas instead of rice pancakes! Why would you bother offering Peking Duck, which is a specialty item, if you were just going to destroy the flavor with grocery store-bought Mexican flour tortillas that clash with the Peking Duck? I've never seen this before. Very, very disappointed. It was inedible, and $17 for a half-order. They also got our order wrong, and delivered the appetizer very late to the table next door. The wait staff seem frazzled and worried, like there's a desperate lack of organization and coordination that no one can get a hold of. That said, the General Tso's Chicken was some of the best I've had in a while. So, hit or miss, perhaps, on the food? That's why I gave them two stars rather than one.

Food here is good but I'm giving it one star because service is always terrible and everyone of the staff is always rude and looks unhappy. But the MAIN reason is because I found a roach in my food and brought the food back. They didn't even apologize. Seemed to me like that was a normal occurrence there. Needless to say I'm neverrrrrr coming back

Our experience was just okay. Our food was very typical of the average, run of the mill, chinese food. Definitely nothing special.

I always order take out from here and just about everything taste really good. I like the open window. I'm always impressed how clean it is in there.

This restaurant was a pleasant surprise, in that it surpassed my expectations. It is larger than I thought it would be, with a very nice decor. Wood, stone and grass-cloth cover the walls, and the table-tops in the booths are granite. Our waitress was friendly and courteous. The food tasted fresh and the fried items were not greasy. While the hot & sour soup at Hunan Home in San Francisco is still my favorite, the soup here was very good. The fried crab and cream cheese triangles were large, light & crispy, and the shu mai were very tasty. I had the curried chicken as a main course. The vegetables were colorful and crisp, and the chicken was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The next time we're in the mood for Chinese foord, we'll definitely come here again.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
